Man expresses concern over President Mahama’s dressing at international events.

President John Mahama’s Outfit at UNGA Sparks Social Media Debate

Former President John Dramani Mahama is currently in New York for the 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), where he joined other leaders for summits and side events.

However, his choice of attire at one of the gatherings has stirred mixed reactions on social media. At a summit for African countries organized as part of the UNGA side events, Mahama appeared in a locally designed outfit, which some praised for showcasing Ghanaian culture.

Yet, one Facebook user raised concerns, arguing that the former president looked “too ordinary” for someone representing the state on such a global platform. The user wrote:

“I have serious concern with the President’s dress code at the world stage. I know they will come and insult me, but let’s have a second look at this. He is representing Ghana at the world stage and he cannot represent ‘The Republic of Ghana’ looking too ordinary. Ahhh well!”

The post sparked immediate reactions. While a few agreed with his view, many others criticized the comment, defending Mahama’s outfit as a proud representation of Ghanaian identity. Some pointed out that world leaders are rarely judged by their clothing and that such criticisms were misplaced.

On Monday, Mahama took part in a high-level meeting of Heads of State and Government, continuing his official engagements at the UNGA.
