Social Media Feud Between Gang Leaders Turns Bloody in Axim
In a world where gangster rivalries never seem to end, two self-acclaimed gang leaders from Axim in the Nzema East Municipality of Ghana have taken their feud from TikTok to the streets—with one of them now fighting for his life.
For the past two weeks, Kwame Ato and Alex Agbo have been at each other’s throats online, trading insults and threats that kept social media buzzing. Ato, who describes himself as an illegal miner (galamseyer) protected by spiritual powers, repeatedly posted videos warning Alex and his associate Pascal that if they crossed paths, there would be a violent clash.
In one of his clips, filmed on the land where he mines, Ato stood alongside a colleague, vowing never to spare his rivals. Alex, however, responded in a calmer tone, seemingly unshaken by the threats.
But the online banter took a dark turn. Days later, Ato appeared on social media looking battered and distressed, lamenting that he was “tired of life” after being attacked by unknown assailants.
Ironically, Ato had earlier bragged about possessing voodoo powers strong enough to protect him both physically and spiritually, yet the latest incident suggested that his supposed shield had failed him.
Following the attack, Pascal stepped in on Alex’s behalf, warning Ato to back down. Still, Ato remained defiant—until the assault left him struggling for survival.
The emotional video of Ato after the attack has sparked public sympathy, with many Ghanaians urging the Ghana Police Service to intervene and bring the perpetrators to justice.
