The Ghana Education Service (GES) has relieved the Assistant Headmaster in charge of Academics at KNUST Senior High School of his duties after a viral video of him with a female student sparked widespread public outrage.
The footage, which circulated across social media, showed the teacher in a compromising situation, engaging in conduct deemed inappropriate and in clear violation of both GES regulations and the school’s code of ethics.
When the video first emerged, some viewers suggested that the encounter appeared consensual, arguing that the student’s decision to record the act meant she was comfortable with it.
The debate intensified on September 30, 2025, during Badwam, a political program aired on Adom TV, when the Member of Parliament for Twifo Atti-Morkwa in the Central Region, Hon. Theophilus Dominic Vondee, downplayed the seriousness of the matter. According to him, the incident was not as grave as many were making it out to be, insisting that both parties seemed to have willingly engaged in the act since the student appeared cheerful while filming.
His comments have provoked sharp criticism, with many questioning his values and morality. Critics have also challenged him to consider whether he would hold the same view if the young girl in question were his own daughter or relative.
Meanwhile, GES has instructed the suspended Assistant Headmaster, Mr. Charles Aidoo, to stay away from the school premises pending the outcome of an ongoing investigation.
