The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako—popularly known as Chairman Wontumi—has made a startling revelation during an interview on Adom FM.
According to him, the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has confiscated 15 of his high-end vehicles, including a Rolls-Royce, Bentley, V8, and a fleet of other luxury rides.
Speaking via a phone-in on Dwaso Nsem on Adom 106.3 FM in Accra, Wontumi insisted that all his cars were legitimately acquired through a registered dealer at Asylum Down, close to the NPP headquarters. He expressed confusion over the seizures, noting that while he was uncomfortable discussing the matter further, he would leave everything in the hands of God.
Prior to the confiscation, Wontumi had been arrested on May 27, 2025, and placed in EOCO’s custody for nearly a week. He was accused of money laundering, illegal mining in protected forest reserves, polluting water bodies, and causing financial loss to the state during the NPP’s second term under President Nana Akufo-Addo and Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
He was later released on bail set at 50 million Ghana cedis with two sureties.
