A group of Nigerian students has taken to social media to voice their solidarity with members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), urging the Federal Government to swiftly address the lingering strike and fulfill the union’s demands.
Earlier, Kangyang Pwajok, President of the University of Jos Students’ Union Government (SUG), criticized the government’s failure to adequately fund the education sector during an interview with Trust TV News. She lamented that students are the ones who bear the brunt of the system’s neglect.
“Strike is always ASUU’s last option,” says Unijos SUG President
Pwajok explained that ASUU resorts to strike action only when all other means of negotiation have failed, describing it as a necessary step to draw attention to the decay in the nation’s universities.
Gashua Students Join in Solidarity
Meanwhile, students of the Federal University Gashua held a peaceful protest in support of ASUU, calling on the Federal Government to honor its agreements and take immediate action to restore normal academic activities across campuses.
The demonstrations highlight growing frustration among students, who continue to face disruptions in their academic calendar due to prolonged industrial disputes.
