According to Brazilian outlet O Globo, the two first met over six years ago while both were deeply devoted to their religious callings. At that time, Lais was preparing to renew her vows as a missionary, while Jackson was completing his priesthood training after five years in the seminary.
Though they often crossed paths in church circles, they never spoke until life took an unexpected turn. Lais began battling depression and decided to leave the convent to heal and rebuild her life. Around that time, Jackson reached out to her, sending a simple message of prayer and support.
That one act of kindness blossomed into a deep friendship, as the two continued to communicate, encourage, and comfort each other.
As months passed, both started questioning their callings and eventually left religious life to follow their hearts. Their friendship slowly evolved into love.
In April 2024, they officially started dating. Six months later, they got engaged — and by March 2025, they exchanged vows in a private ceremony surrounded by close family and friends.
“It doesn’t seem like much, right? But let’s face it — we’re adults now and we know what we want in life,” Lais wrote on Instagram, sharing photos of their journey together.
