“I Don’t Mind an Open Marriage” — Blaqbonez Shares Bold Take on Relationships
Nigerian rapper Emeka Akumefule, better known by his stage name Blaqbonez, has stirred reactions online after openly sharing his unconventional views on marriage and fidelity.
Speaking on the In My Opinion podcast, the Chocolate City artist revealed that he would be comfortable in an open marriage, explaining that love and emotional connection mean more to him than strict physical exclusivity.
Blaqbonez Explains His View
According to the “Back in Uni” crooner, passion and physical intimacy often fade as relationships mature, while emotional compatibility becomes more important.
“I don’t mind having an open marriage,” he said. “Most married couples don’t keep having the same amount of sx they had at the beginning; it naturally reduces. So, if someone else is satisfying her while I’m out hustling or touring, that’s fine. There’s more to marriage than just sx.”
Blaqbonez emphasized that he values honesty and understanding above traditional expectations, adding that jealousy shouldn’t dictate how partners express love and loyalty.
Fans React Online
The rapper’s remarks quickly went viral, sparking debates on social media. While some praised his honesty and “realistic” outlook on modern relationships, others criticized his stance, arguing that marriage should be built on commitment and exclusivity.
One fan commented, “At least he’s being honest about what he wants — many people cheat in secret.” Another wrote, “Open marriage or not, this generation is losing values.”
