Nollywood star Adunni Ade has won a major court battle after the Federal High Court ordered an online news outlet to pay her ₦20 million in damages for publishing a defamatory story about her.

The case, which began nearly two years ago, originated from a viral report alleging that the actress was romantically involved with Senator Dino Melaye. The publication had named her among “six Nigerian celebrities” supposedly linked to the lawmaker, a claim that quickly stirred public debate.
Actress Fights Back Against False Claims
Firmly denying the allegations, Adunni Ade filed a lawsuit accusing the platform of defamation and invasion of privacy, demanding ₦100 million in damages for the harm caused to her reputation.
“Truth Stood Tall,” She Says
Following the judgment, the actress celebrated her legal triumph on Instagram, thanking the Nigerian judiciary for delivering justice. She described the ruling as proof that “truth stood tall,” expressing relief that her name had finally been cleared.
