A viral video has sparked widespread outrage after capturing Nigerian police officers and BRT enforcement agents allegedly vandalizing a driver’s car along Ikorodu Road, Lagos, during an attempted stop.

Officer Forcefully Shifts Moving Car Into Park

In the disturbing clip circulating on social media, one of the officers is seen forcefully switching the moving vehicle’s gear into park mode, a reckless action that could have caused severe mechanical damage or even a crash.

The visibly distressed driver, who insisted he was driving within his lane, could be heard protesting as his car’s transmission system malfunctioned following the officer’s interference.

Public Anger Over Police Harassment

The video has since gone viral, amassing thousands of views and reigniting public outrage over recurring incidents of police misconduct and harassment of motorists in Lagos.

Allegations of Extortion

A separate segment of the footage also shows BRT enforcement officers confronting pedestrians and drivers, with eyewitnesses alleging that some of the agents were extorting money from motorists under the guise of enforcement.

The incident has fueled renewed calls for accountability and reform within Nigeria’s law enforcement agencies.
