Just hours after the #FreeNnamdiKanuNow protest kicked off in Abuja, Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has shared his reaction online.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Olayinka mocked the protest convener, Omoyele Sowore, labeling him a “Cashtivist” — a jab suggesting activism for personal gain.
Protest Turns Chaotic in Abuja
Earlier on Monday, Sowore, joined by Nnamdi Kanu’s lawyer, Aloy Ejimakor, Kanu’s brother, and several supporters, led a demonstration demanding the immediate release of the detained IPOB leader.
However, the rally reportedly descended into chaos when security operatives used teargas to disperse the crowd. According to multiple reports, Ejimakor, Kanu’s brother, and several others were arrested during the confrontation.
The incident has since fueled conversations on social media about freedom of expression, the government’s handling of protests, and ongoing calls for Nnamdi Kanu’s release.
