A wedding master of ceremonies (MC) has recounted a troubling incident that took place during a wedding in Anambra State, where the groom reportedly refused to cover the accommodation costs of the bridesmaids after the event.
According to the MC, the bridesmaids had travelled all the way from a polytechnic in Delta State to support their friend’s big day. They arrived a day early to attend the bridal shower and took part enthusiastically throughout the ceremony.
However, when the celebration ended around 7 p.m., the groom allegedly instructed everyone to vacate the hotel, making it clear that he would not be paying for another night’s stay.
“I was completely taken aback,” the MC said. “The groom kept shouting that he wouldn’t renew the rooms. How could he expect these young women to travel back to Delta State at that hour, considering how dangerous Nigerian roads can be at night?”
Calling the act “unacceptable and insensitive,” the MC criticized the groom’s behavior, expressing deep concern for the bridesmaids’ safety and well-being after they were left stranded.
