“Poverty can’t die by fire, if you don’t work, it will deal with you” – Chiwetalu Agu

Chiwetalu Agu, a veteran Nollywood actor, sparked a wave of online reactions by boldly stating that poverty cannot be eradicated by fire.

In a viral video shared on X (formerly Twitter), the legendary actor said, “Poverty no dey die by fire. You can pray from morning till night, but if you refuse to work hard, poverty will still disgrace you.”

Agu emphasized that while prayer is powerful, it must be backed by action. He explained that success comes through both faith and diligence — not mere wishful thinking. According to him, God blesses hard workers, not idle dreamers.

“Prayer connects you to blessings,” he said, “but you must move your hands and feet for those blessings to manifest. God opens the door, but it’s your job to walk through it.”

To drive home his message, the actor referenced James 2:17: “Faith without works is dead.”
