Reno Omokri Sparks Debate Over His Comment on Virginity as “The Best Gift a Wife Can Give”

Social commentator Reno Omokri has stirred mixed reactions online after asserting that a woman’s virginity is the greatest gift she can offer her husband.

Sharing his views on the value of virginity in relationships, Omokri emphasized its spiritual, emotional, and physical significance in fostering a lasting and stable marriage.

Virginity as a Source of Value

According to Omokri, a woman who enters marriage as a virgin contributes a rare kind of purity that strengthens the marital bond on multiple levels. He described it as an offering that elevates the connection between husband and wife beyond the physical, creating what he termed an “almost mystical” relationship.

Warning Against Peer Pressure

Omokri also cautioned young women against giving in to peer pressure or mockery regarding their decision to remain virgins until marriage. He described such ridicule as empty and meaningless, likening it to the Yoruba concept of Erin Ika—laughter devoid of joy or sincerity.

He advised women to stay firm in their values, stressing that societal validation fades quickly, but personal integrity lasts forever.

Omokri’s Words

“As long as a woman brings virginity to the table, she doesn’t have to bring anything else physically to make the relationship stable. You, as a man, should provide the rest.

The best gift your wife can give you is her virginity. When she enters marriage with that, it adds value to you physically, spiritually, and emotionally. The bond becomes almost mystical.

So my counsel to young people—especially, but not exclusively, to females—is this: keep your virginity until marriage. Your friends may laugh, but that laughter has no joy. It is what the Lukumi Yoruba call Erin Ika.

You can become like them in one minute, but they can never be like you in a million light-years.”
