Eriata Ese Defends Single Mothers, Slams Lady for Criticising Women Who Give Birth Outside Marriage
Actress and former BBNaija star Eriata Ese has called out a lady who criticised women for giving birth without being married.
The lady had complained online about the rising number of women having babies outside wedlock, saying, “Every girl just dey born anyhow without being married.”
Responding, Eriata said people should stop judging others without knowing their stories. She explained that not everyone avoids marriage out of choice — some are healing from trauma, battling trust issues, or simply taking their time to find the right partner.
Eriata pointed out the double standards women face: society tells women in their 30s to “just have kids,” yet mocks them when they do. When they finally find love, the same people question why a man would date a single mother instead of a younger woman.
“You don’t know my fears, my past, or if I’m mentally ready,” she said. “People talk because commenting is free, but many don’t think before typing.”
She added that what hurts most is that most of the judgment comes from women themselves.
