Police Arrest 18-Year-Old for Allegedly Running Online Dating Sc*m While Posing as a Woman
The Niger State Police Command has apprehended an 18-year-old identified as Victor Ugwu for allegedly operating an online dating sc*m while pretending to be a woman.
According to police reports, Victor, who resides on Easy Life Street along Kaduna Road, was arrested on October 16, 2025, by officers from the Maje Division after he got into a heated argument with a man identified as Peter.
How the Deception Was Uncovered
Police spokesperson DSP Wasiu Abiodun confirmed the arrest in a statement released on Sunday. He explained that Peter had reached out to Victor a year earlier, seeking help to meet a female friend.
However, instead of facilitating the introduction, Victor allegedly began impersonating a woman, sending Peter photos of himself dressed in female clothing and using the images to extort money.
During a search of the suspect’s residence, police reportedly recovered a wig and several women’s clothes, believed to have been used in the act.
