Nollywood actor and filmmaker Daniel Etim-Effiong has opened up about his unique approach to handling romantic scenes in movies — revealing that he prays before filming them as part of both his faith and creative process.

The 37-year-old, who transitioned from engineering to acting, described his craft as an expression of worship and said he sees storytelling as part of his spiritual calling.
Etim-Effiong has faced public scrutiny over his romantic roles, especially after a viral kissing scene with actress Bolaji Ogunmola in Summer Rain. However, he clarified that his intention has never been about stirring controversy.
“The fact that I play a lot of romantic roles means I get to have kissing scenes sometimes,” he said.
“But the question should go to the producers: why are they expressing affection only one way? There are other ways to show intimacy.”Watch Video: Is Cardi B Giving Offset 70% all Her Properties?

He further explained that romantic scenes are often driven by audience demand, as they tend to attract viewers and boost engagement. Despite the attention such scenes bring, Daniel emphasized that faith, focus, and family remain his guiding principles.
Public Reactions
Following his revelation, social media users shared mixed but humorous reactions:
- “The prayer goes like, ‘Thank you once again for this opportunity to do what I love…’”
- “Daniel is a good actor. You can act out romantic scenes without kissing. Clinton Joshua does it well, and you can still feel the chemistry.”
- “Lord, as I want muahhh, give me the grace to muahhh in peace. Strengthen my ability to muahhh, Elesin.”
