A Nigerian businesswoman has drawn widespread sympathy after releasing an emotional video accusing her trusted staff of diverting over ₦10 million from her business.
The entrepreneur, who runs a fertility-related brand known as @hannabelfertility on TikTok, said she uncovered the shocking fraud during a regular financial audit.
“I Treated Them Like Family”
In the now-viral clip, she tearfully expressed her pain and disappointment, explaining that she had always treated her employees with kindness and respect.
According to her, she never owed salaries and often paid before month-end. She even extended generosity beyond work — giving gifts, money, and clothes during festive seasons and welcoming her staff into her home.
“₦10 million so far — that’s what I’ve discovered they took from my business,” she lamented. “I’ve never owed salaries; sometimes I pay early. I treated them like my sisters. They came to my house, ate my food, slept there — yet this is what they did to me.”
Her heartbreaking revelation has since gone viral, sparking conversations online about trust, betrayal, and the challenges of running small businesses in Nigeria.
